Life cycle analysis (LCA) is an assessment of the environmental impact of a certain product or process. LCA is more complex and provides a wider insight in environmental effects than for example a carbon footprint or a water footprint. Despite the fact that LCA is already being used for more than a decade, it is still under development. LCA has multiple purposes and its importance is growing worldwide. At the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy, LCA is also a topic within the Biobased Resources & Energy research group. We perform LCAs for innovative biobased/circular products, but we also develop related environmental assessment methodologies which could serve different purposes.
You will assist the LCA team by doing theoretical and practical research on multiple LCA (related) topics. You will be mainly involved in critical reviews of LCA methodologies, the development of environmental assessment and how we could express outcomes in a clear way for a wide public.
Who we are:
You will be working for the Biobased Resources & Energy research group within the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy (CoE BBE). The Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy is powered by the Avans University of applied sciences and HZ Univeristy of applied sciences and helps businesses achieve their biobased goals by working with them to modernize higher professional education and to carry out applied research that makes a difference. The CoE BBE does this by producing highly skilled professionals who can support and shape the transition to a biobased society. The Biobased Resource & Energy research group is focusing on valorizing residual streams from nature, agriculture or industrial sources and the production and use of biobased energy, while cherishing the environment.
