The province of South Holland has drawn up a plan on the initiative of the Zuid-Holland Zuid Environment Service to make better use of the available biomass (organic flows). The role of biomass for a sustainable economy will have to be made clear.
In order to get a better grip on this biomass issue, it is considered necessary to make an inventory of the most relevant flows and developments in processing options.
In anticipation and parallel to this inventory study, a discussion is taking place in a provincial context about the question of which sustainability framework is important for choices regarding processing options and research into potential processing directions. This sustainability framework covers as much as possible the entire chain and the relationship with other relevant disciplines. This insight, combined with a biomass sustainability framework yet to be drawn up, provides the province with tools to steer towards desired goals within its responsibility.
