The ecological footprint of the total world population is too large and we are exhausting our earth in this way. The question is: how can we deal with nature differently? What do we get out of it and what can we give back? In a biobased economy we are talking about the transition from an economy that runs on fossil raw materials, such as petroleum and coal, to an economy that runs on biomass as a raw material. Biomass can come from crops that grow on land or in the sea, but also from residual flows from forestry, agro and food industry or other industrial sectors.

To familiarize you with the biobased economy, we have listed a number of important concepts. Do you have questions? Or are you missing information? Let us know and we will complete the Biobased Wiki!
