Living Lab Circular Economy Canada

Towards a Biobased and Circular Economy in Canada and The Netherlands

We aim to join forces in a so-called Living Lab Circular Economy Canada. EP-Nuffic, the Dutch organization in international education, has developed a new instrument for international collaboration called Living Labs. A Living Lab is a programme that unites universities, private businesses and public organizations, from two countries, to provide state of the art applied research opportunities and real-life research assignments for researchers and students in a key area of the Netherlands. The Living Lab provides a platform to unite education, research and businesses and to commonly develop and apply practical solutions for challenges faced in different countries around the world.

Main actions within a Living Lab are:

  • Student exchange for education and research internships
  • Educational project
  • Joint applied research
  • Networking and knowledge sharing

Each Living Lab is a bilateral triple-helix cooperation. A Living Lab stimulates innovation by developing competencies of people through the execution of real-life practical assignments by students, lecturers, researchers and professionals working in a specific sector. Innovations are realized through student and professor mobility, active stimulation of innovative developments through joint education and applied research programs. The goal of our Living Lab is to enhance international cooperation, stimulate innovation, and increase human capital.
