Internship - Product market combinations from Duckweed

The goal of this assignment is to determine promising product market combinations for components from Duckweed.

Introduction

A project has been adopted within the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy at the Biobased Energy Research Group. This project ÔÇÿBlauwe KetenÔÇÖ has the goal to demonstrate the feasibility of commercial algae growth in green houses for the production of blue color dye. During the growth of algae, also residue water is produced. The project also focusses on the re-use of this residue water through cultivation of the water plant Duckweed (Lemna). From Duckweed, valuable components can be extracted like protein and starch. The components can be used in non-food applications such as glue.

Goal

The goal of this assignment is to determine promising product market combinations for components from Duckweed.

Company description

You will be working for the Biobased Energy research group within the Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy (CoE BBE). The Centre of Expertise Biobased Economy is powered by the Avans University of applied sciences and HZ University of applied sciences and helps organizations and businesses to leverage their ambitions by renewing their higher education and applied research. In that way, CoE BBE enables excellently educated professionals to build the transition to a biobased society. The Biobased Energy research group is focusing on the production and use of biobased energy and the valorization of residues.
